EndNote at Rowan University: EndNote Online

Guide to Using EndNote for students, faculty, and staff at Rowan University

EndNote 21, the latest version of EndNote, only works with a new version of the online or cloud based version of EndNote called EndNote 21 Web. 

  • Older versions of EndNote, such as EndNote 20, are NOT compatible with EndNote 21 Web and must continue to use the older versions of the web based EndNote Online.
  • This section of the guide only pertains to the old version EndNote Online and will be revised at a later date.

Introduction

EndNote Basic, formerly known as EndNote Online or EndNote Web, is the online counterpart to EndNote desktop. EndNote Basic is a free version of EndNote.   Besides being free, the major advantage of EndNote Basic is that you can access your account from any computer that has an internet connection. With EndNote Basic, it is possible to share libraries with other EndNote Basic users - making collaboration easy. EndNote Basic can also work with EndNote desktop so you can move references between the two.
