This intensive 2 week-long course in the 2nd year will give students a fundamental knowledge of the common conditions which co-exist in older individuals with emphasis on optimizing health and function through applications of the 4Ms framework. Special attention is given to the following topics: dementia, delirium, pressure ulcers, urinary incontinence, falls, medications and deprescribing, along with polypharmacy.
Fundamental knowledge about the dying process and an introduction to the clinical challenges and ethical dilemmas common in end-of-life decision-making will also be covered.
