Medical Aid in Dying - MAiD

MAiD - enables terminally ill, mentally competent adults with a prognosis of 6months or less to live, can request and receive a prescription for medication to end their life peacefully and with dignity.

Eligibility

  • Adults (18yrs or older)
  • Resident of a state where MAiD is legal
  • Terminally ill (prognosis < 6 months)
  • Mentally competent and capable of making decisions
  • Able to self-administer Rx
  • Able to make voluntary, informed request for Rx

Process

  • Multiple requests for Rx made with witnesses
  • Patient informed of all end-of-life options
  • Rx taken home
  • Patient can rescind request at any time
