PBL Track - Rowan-Virtua SOM: Intersessions and Other Courses

A "one stop shop" to the PBL track pre-clerkship years at the Rowan-Virtua School of Osteopathic Medicine.

Intersession

Intersessions are week long breaks from the intensity of the medical sciencesThe content covered is important for Residency and further along in a student's career.  The week long intensive gives each topic the time and attention it deserves and allows students to develop the applicable knowledge needed in fields that are closely tied to the practice of medicine.

Health Systems Science 1 & 2, or HSS, provides the fundamental understanding of how health care is delivered at both the individual and system level.  The emphasis is on understanding the role of human factors, systems engineering, leadership, and patient improvement strategies; it is the economics of medicine.

The Human Sexuality Intersession is a comprehensive and concentrated opportunity to become knowledgeable and comfortable in dealing with sexuality.  Main goals include: addressing misinformation, controversy, a prejudice - including any student biases.  This Intersession promotes an increase in knowledge, comfort, empathy, and respect.

The End of Life Intersession provides fundamental knowledge of the dying process.  It is an introduction to the clinical challenge and ethical dilemmas that are common in end of life decision making.
