EndNote 21 and EndNote 25 are the newest versions of EndNote, and only works with a new version of the online or cloud based version of EndNote called EndNote Web.
Older versions of EndNote are NOT compatible with EndNote Web and must continue to use the older versions of the web based EndNote Online Classic.

Creating an EndNote Web Account
There are multiple ways to access the screen to register for an EndNote Web account.
Creating an EndNote Web/online account is done through EndNote on your laptop or desktop computer. Creating an EndNote Web account can not be done through the EndNote Web website.
To create an EndNote Web account launch EndNote open the library you want to sync and click Library > Sync or select Edit > Preferences and click Enable Sync.
Click the Sign Up button to go to an EndNote Registration dialog.
Enter your email address in the EndNote Registration. Retype your email address, and then click the Submit button.
Enter your name and a secure password, read the EndNote End User License Agreement, then click the I Agree button to create your account.
