Perform your search in PubMed. Check the checkbox next to each reference that you want to send to EndNote. Not checking the checkbox of any citations will send all search results to EndNote. By default article bibliographic data (authors, article titles, journal name, volume, issues, pages, DOI etc.) and the abstract (if one exists) are sent to EndNote. Click Display Options to change what information is exported.
At the top of the citation list click the Send to button, and from the options select Citation manager.
Click the Create file button to download the PubMed citation to your computer.
Internet browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Edge, etc.) works differently when exporting and downloading. Using Chrome based browsers the downloaded file will appear in a bar at the bottom of the browser. Other browsers may work differently. Note Apple’s Safari browser may not be compatible with EndNote
Click the file name to send the downloaded PubMed citations to EndNote.
To bypass having to click on the downloaded file in the future click the small arrow next to the downloaded file and select Always open files of this type. Now when clicking the Create file button referenced above the PubMed references will directly be sent to EndNote.
The PubMed references will be exported into an open EndNote Library, and placed in EndNote’s Imported References group.
