By the end of Year 2 students will:
- Apply Year 1 concepts and culturally responsive frameworks to standardized patient encounters.
- Reflect on one's ability to engage with patients from underserved communities using culturally responsive framework.
- Develop knowledge and understanding of experiences of medical underserved populations.
- Build empathy and skills for interacting with patients.
- ID state and local agencies that provide services that assist in decreasing identified health disparities and gaps.
- Describe collective approaches and individual responsibilities to reduce disparities.
- Understand importance of developing partnerships with community leaders, organizations, health providers, and residents when developing a needs assessment.
- ID and utilize appropriate methods in community and public health assessment
- Synthesize and develop means of presenting multiple sources of data that describe the experience of a local underserved community, their health issues, considerations for care, and recommendations for action.
