As I see and hear more and more about Artificial Intelligence in Medical Education, I'm creating a special "Hot Topics" section below to include information I discover. This section will continue as long as it's needed. Please let me know if you have a resource or resources to share.

A reminder that all Faculty Focus Newsletter and Update issues are available from the Faculty Focus Archive.

I thank all who help with content curation and those who have shared items with me for distribution.

Thank you, Steve

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

Faculty Development Guide: Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI)

Rowan University

  • Continuing our focus on DEI (University Announcement 8/31/23)
    • From the University announcement: "On June 29, following Dr. Monika Williams Shealey's departure for Temple University, we announced that Dr. Penny McPherson Myers, vice president for the Division of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, agreed to lead the division beginning July 1. With nearly 22 years of experience here at Rowan, her insight and leadership will be critical as our DEI efforts continue to advance.
In the four years since the creation of the Division, we have achieved much toward developing a more diverse and inclusive institution. But there is much more to be done. In the fall, we will convene a task force with representatives from across the University to evaluate our strengths and look at how we can continue to grow as an inclusive community. We will collaborate with colleagues and students to identify the members of the task force to help provide a more complete perspective on our work.
What lies ahead will continue to be complex, challenging and rewarding. We are confident in our community's dedication to this important effort. Please join us in reaffirming our commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion goals."

  • Foundations of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Sessions for Virtua Health College
(September-December 2023; All sessions via Webex; Faculty and Staff only)
    • Planning for the Fall dates for the Foundations of DEI Certificate is underway. As we no longer have our primary facilitator, Yvonne, I'm working with the Division of DEI to schedule Fall sessions. Since we'll need to have fewer sessions due to resource constraints, we'll focus on Modules 1 and 2 for the Fall 2023 term. The University Division of DEI will be offering sessions for each Module.
